Granola bars are a go-to at my house for snacks, hiking, and sometimes breakfast (if we’re really in a hurry). The only problem: granola bars can be super high in sugar, fat, and carbs! They don’t keep me full for very long, and I always end up eating a couple too many and feeling sick after.

I’ve been searching for a cheap and easy fix to my granola bar problems, and I think I found something amazing! I wanted something whole and delicious that even my kids would love. I definitely didn’t want that ‘health food’ taste–yuck! This recipe covered all of my snack needs.

These Peanut Butter and Honey Oat Bars are made with 100% whole ingredients. That’s right, these things are crazy good and crazy healthy. You can customize them, too! You could try adding mini chocolate chips or crushed peanuts for an extra flavor shot.

My new Peanut Butter and Honey Oat Bars are kind of like the Quaker Chewy Granola Bars, only they have way more protein. Protein helps keep you fuller longer, which is awesome because you’ll feel happier. Who knew–snacks can make you happier?? My favorite part is the brand of protein I use in these bars: IdealRaw Organic Protein in the vanilla flavor.

These don’t taste like some ‘health foods’ out there, so your kids will definitely love them. You could always keep them all for yourself though! *wink wink*

I like to cut these up and wrap them in plastic wrap so that 1). They don’t stick together and 2). Everyone gets their own bar! You can store them in Ziplock bags or an airtight container, too.

Instructions

  1. Combine all the ingredients together in a bowl and mix well. Press into a bread loaf pan that has been lined with parchment paper.
  2. Refrigerate for 2 hours. Lift the bars out of the pan using the sides of the parchment paper. Cut into 36 small bite-sized squares.

  • 1 c rolled oats
  • 1 c unsweetened coconut flakes
  • 1 scoop Organic Vanilla IdealRaw
  • 1/3 c flax meal
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c natural peanut butter
  • 1/3 c honey
